Healthy Eating Recommendations
Our diet affects every aspect of our life - physcial, mental and spiritual. The foods we eat infulence our thoughts, our emotions and even our sexual proclivities and ablilities.
Healthy foods to include in the daily diet should inclued organic alkaline leafy green vegetables, whole grains, legumes, beans, sprouts, nuts, almond or rice milk, and all fruits. Try to eat your food in its most natural state. Avoid any fried foods and/or processed foods.
When buying foods one should read the ingredients to make sure no chemicals are contained. Stay away from mucus-forming agents like refined sugar, processed foods (i.e., instant and canned foods), dairy products and any foods made with cow's milk or cheese, junk foods like pastries or candy, and caffeinated products. Avoid all meat and poultry products that have been deliberately fed or implanted with synthetic hormones to speed their growth.
Upon rising, drink 8 ounces of pure water to cleanse the body of toxins. During the day eat small portions at each meal. For breafast have light foods such as fruits or smoothies. Lunchtime should be your heaviest meal - it gives the body ample time to digest before going to sleep. Eating after 6 p.m. is not recommended; the body's digestive system begins to slow down. Depending upon one's lifestyle, 2 to 3 meals per day are recommended.
Water intake should be at least 1 gallon per day. To determine a more accurated suggested water intake, divide your weight in half. That number is the quantity of ounces of water that you need to drink per day. For example, a 130-pound person needs 65 ounces of water per day.
Juice intake should be limited to 4 to 8 ounces per day - to manufacture juice requires a quantity of fruit that would be unnatural to digest during the couse of a day. For instance, it takes 8 to 10 apples to create a glass of apple juice. Be sure to drink juices that say 100% juice on the label and avoid anything containing added sugars.
Regularity of bowel movements depends on the amount of food intake and the content of your diet. On average, if your eliminating organs are working properly and if you eat three healthy, low-meat, non-dairy meals per day you should have 3 to 4 bowel movements a day.
